The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is the governing body for the veterinary profession for both veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses who must register with this organisation before they are allowed to practice. The RCVS sets out standards and guidelines for its members covering ethical matters and clinical standards. Members must complete a required amount of continued professional development annually to maintain their membership status. The RCVS also have a code of conduct that all members are expected to follow.
