The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is the governing body for the veterinary profession for both veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses who must register with this organisation before they are allowed to practice. The RCVS sets out standards and guidelines for its members covering ethical matters and clinical standards. Members must complete a required amount of continued professional development annually to maintain their membership status. The RCVS also have a code of conduct that all members are expected to follow.

Pet passport

Taking your pet abroad is now easier with the Pet Passport scheme but there are still specific rules and regulations you have to comply with before you can travel with your pet. Requirements differ from country to country and are subject to frequent changes.

Microchipping

It is now a legal requirement for all dogs over eight weeks of age to be microchipped. It is also required that all your records be kept current and up to date to allow a quick and safe return home for your pet.
